A business model is a simple representation of the complex reality of a business. The primary purpose of a business model is to communicate something about the business to other people, to employees, customers, partners, or suppliers. A business model can be analyzed, for example to understand the impacts of a change. A model can be simulated, showing how things change over time, and supporting experimentation with different alternative future changes. And some models can be executed by software applications, allowing models created by business modelers to substitute for code created by software engineers.
